It took three nights of almost no sleep and many backbreaking trips up and down my stairs. And — I’ll be frank — there’s no way that I would have gotten it all done without Cher’s help. But we finally finished the move out of my apartment. About a half hour before we were due for dinner before my evening departure.
The move left me with one big question: How the hell did I get so much stuff???
Ok, two big questions. Where the heck are we going to put all this stuff in our new apartment???
Anyway, on to MUCH better things… after we finished the move, Cher and I rushed to meet my Dad & Judith for an amazing and wonderful send-off dinner. (Thanks for the awesome dinner, guys! It makes me realize how great I have it!)
About 10 minutes after finishing dinner, I was already on my way thru security. (We ate at the Sheraton Hotel, which is located in the Terminal…) After a short wait, I got on the plane and, about 5 minutes later, I was dead asleep. I slept the entire flight away and woke up in Amsterdam airport.
Here’s a shot:
Since I hadn’t really slept much in the last four days, time was kind of off for me anyway. It didn’t feel like it was 11:00 (Amsterdam time), but it didn’t feel like it was 5:00 (Toronto time) either.
All I really knew was that I was really really tired.
Thankfully, my stopover was very short, and in about an hour, I was back on the plane again and in no time, I was fast asleep.
I woke up about 1/2 hour outside of Prague and since I had a window seat, I checked out the countryside. Very green. Lots of rolling hills, farms and little villages. Very pretty.
And lots of red roofs.
I got into the airport, hopped aboard a shuttle — thinking that I was very smart, indeed, spending only $6 to get dropped of about 10 blocks from my apartment instead of taking a $35 taxi straight there. I thought it would be good to see the sights on my first arrival.
Big mistake.
The sights were gorgeous.
Here are some shots of the first arrival…
Beautiful right? But if you look closely, you’ll see that the streets aren’t actually paved. They are cobblestone.
Now, wheeling an impossibly heavy bag 10 blocks is strenuous, but not too bad. Dragging an impossibly heavily bag over 10 blocks of cobblestone? IMPOSSIBLE.
So, after about 10 hours and 8 near heart attacks, I finally made it to my apartment.
Which, by the way is AMAZING. I think that there are 16 foot ceilings. Hardwood floors. And it’s really big. I could live here! Oh wait… I do!!!

Anyway as you can all guess, I’m very excited to be here. The trip has been a long time coming and I am really going to enjoy it!
But first, I’m going to get some sleep!
Good night all. I’ll see you in my dreams.
