Ok. So I’ve been here for a few days now…
And I’ve got things pretty much figured out.
Or so I think.
I don’t speak any Czech, really.
Just:
Hello (Do-bry Den)
Thank you (Dyk-wy)
Receipt (Oo-chet)
I’ve found the grocery store, the health food store, the corner store and two department stores. I even know my way around the city now. At least in the main, “Old Town” area.
I’ve been on the Metro. Of course, I went the wrong way the first time… but heck… I don’t speak the language, right?
I tried a number of typical Czech foods. Mostly really good. My first night here I had rabbit and a potato/cabbage mix. The next night I had a sort of potato gnocchi, which was really good. The last couple of nights I’ve been cooking for myself…
The local wine is called Muller Thurgau. And it’s not all bad. Not good, but not all bad.
I’ve been sleeping lots (like 10-12 hours a day) and I haven’t yet done a lot of the touristy things. I have wandered the city for about 4 hours every day.
The one really touristy thing is that I have been to the Charles bridge at night. Here’s some shots…
Pretty spectacular, huh?
I’ll have more photos and fun to show you in a few days. Next week, I’m going to hit all the tourist haunts… The castle, the museums, Petrin tower. Maybe even go to the Opera!
Anyway, I’m having a grand old time and getting lots of rest…
I’ve even got time to ponder the really important questions like… How come there are no paper towels in Prague?
And why doesn’t anyone in Prague understand what measuring spoons are?
Talk to you soon…
